The “Loi Veil” decriminalizing abortion
SUMMARY
Almost 50 years ago, in 1975, France enacted the Loi Veil that decriminalized abortion. The law is named for its champion Simone Veil, who was the first French woman minister of health and an advocate for women's rights.
Today, we carry on her legacy through #FeministDiplomacy to promote women's equality and autonomy globally.
